Let’s get to know each other better. My name is Giorgos Lorantakis . I am a composer, musician, producer, multi-instrumentalist and audio production professional.

I was born in a place with a very deep history associated with grace and art… Place where democracy first appeared… Where the bright minds of bygone eras live on the lips of contemporaries, like their creations – nowadays! And as you might have guessed – this is Greece, my hometown – Athens.

Just like each of us has our own character – music has it’s own. Especially high-end trailer music and it is one of the toughest things for a composer to produce. You can say that trailer music is deceptively simple with relatively uncomplicated harmony and melodies. But to keep it fresh and modern, every composer needs to find ways to use basic musical building blocks in a way that isn’t cliched or dated. In addition to that challenge, the level of expectations for the sound or production value of trailer music is unmatched. You could argue that trailer music has to sound as good or better than blockbuster film music. Very little of the work that goes into producing trailer music is composition. The rest is making the music sound fresh, huge and real. It’s an entirely different skill set to purely writing music for live performance. Involving arranging, orchestration, keyboard skills, MIDI-programming, audio processing and more often that not – mixing and mastering.

Because of these high expectations, it took me about 8 years of composing full-time to get to the level where my compositions have their own character and shade. Combining a love for cinematic soundscapes that truly transport the listener to other spaces and strong rock hooks that make the heart beat faster. I quickly became known for my technical proficiency and creative musical instincts, landing many session gigs with local musicians.  Since then, I  played across Greece, sharing the stage with notable acts.

With a diverse mix of influences and experience, all aspects of my producing, and performing share a common theme of pushing musical boundaries.  I believe adamantly that “music should make you feel something real” and that  “every artist should strive to have their own voice of expression, no matter how much ‘everything’s already been done’.”

Across my music career so far, I played with record label signed acts, produced music for trailer music catalogues and few distribution platforms.

Currently I’m writing material for a new, unnamed project for future release, but still looking to expand my music and film network, so I’m open to new creative projects.
